Fee: £2,900.00 - 14.5 days @ £200 per day (3 days prep/meetings, 0.5 day trauma

informed training, 2x 0.5 days R&D, 2 weeks rehearsal)

About the Project

Alfie Forever 15 is RedBobble Arts’ bold, trauma-informed, multi-arts programme,

co-created with the family & friends of Alfie Lewis, a 15-year-old who tragically lost

his life to knife crime. The pilot programme, in partnership with West Yorkshire

Police, WYCA, mental health & education specialists, will take our interactive theatre

tour to 6 schools in Leeds, with the aim of reducing knife-carrying behaviours,

promoting cultural engagement and empowering young people to explore their

choices.

Role Description

We are looking for a director to work with three actors, the Creative Director,

Dramaturg, Producer and Audio/Visual Content Creator to develop and rehearse a

new play which will be touring to schools in March 2026. The production, aimed to be

40 minutes, will be documentary/verbatim theatre, and include sound and video

elements that will be operated by the actors. We are currently conducting interviews

to develop the script, and are aiming to have a story board by the end of November.

There will be a first draft that will be R&D’d in January 2026 with the director and

actors.

We would love to work with someone who:

● Has experience making work for young audiences and/or experience creating

theatre with socially engaged outcomes

● Is confident interweaving elements of sound and video into the production

● Is able to lead an inclusive rehearsal process

● Having previous experience of working with verbatim material would be a

bonus

● Is based in Leeds or can travel/stay in Leeds as fee is inclusive of expenses

● Is available for all rehearsal dates and has a few days availability for

meetings/prep Dec 2025 - Feb 2026

We are particularly interested in hearing from directors who are underrepresented in

the theatre sector including those who are Global Majority, Disabled and/or Working

Class.
